We are an Organic Based company that specailise in making our very own, unique Handmade Soaps, Handmade Bath Bombs in fact all of our products are Handmade here in Scotland. Our main goal is to create a world without harsh chemicals and definatly without parabens in our products. Our products are suitable for the whole family to use and our completely Natural Organic Scottish Soap ranges are even coloured using natural plant extracts
Look on the back of most soaps, toiletries and other cosmetic products and you’ll find parabens lurking somewhere. They’re normally included because they are aggressive in destroying most of the bacteria that form in toiletries, but it’s this very same nastiness that makes them a common irritant responsible for many skin allergies. More worryingly, they are earning a bad reputation amongst those studying the causes of breast cancer. There’s no conclusive evidence linking the two yet but that’s why we will NEVER put parabens in our products. We use perhaps one of the oldest methods of soap making, Hot Process. Except - unlike our ancestors - we dont use animal fats in our products.
What is SLS and why do we NEVER use it in our products?
SLS is the most common surfactant used in toiletries to make them foam and cleanse. It is widely used by manufacturers because it’s cheap and effective but it can cause everyday skin complaints from dryness to red, tight itchy skin. It can also aggravate more serious conditions like eczema and dermatitis. This is because fundamentally SLS is a harsh detergent and can strip the skin and hair of its natural oils.
Who runs the Auldhill Soap Company?
The company is owned by our Family. Michelle Troup created the company and is responsible for everything that happens, she runs the company on her own, from making the items, to wrapping and packing. She has a special needs little girl, called Madsion, to which she is the sole carer for. Times can be difficult, and there are many days that they are unable to leave the house, but without the help of anyone else, they run this business to give themselves a shot at a better life. Michelle has no other income, apart from what she makes through the business.
